Thanks to everyone who came out last night for the BarCamp Philly Kickoff. We had an EXCELLENT turnout and the enthusiasm and energy in the room was unreal. When the meeting was over, I think everyone there was confident that this is going to be a great event for the Philadelphia community.
For those of you who couldn’t make it to the kickoff last night, here is a recap of a few key things we discussed.
Intro / Event Summary
- a brief history of BarCamp
- watched video from BarCamp Nashville (great recap!)
- discussion of BarCamp Philly tentative schedule / venue / ideas
- how to diversify programming to appeal to eclectic audience
Core Teams / Volunteers needed!
- Venue - Coordinate with venue ownership, wireless internet, etc.
- Media / Promotion - Get the word out!
- Catering - How do we feed all these people?
- Schedule - Whiteboard and mobile
- Sponsorship - Financial support from businesses & the community
- T-shirts - All participants gets a t-shirt which also features all of our sponsor’s logos
- Event Sign-in - Welcoming committee, making sure all necessary event materials are available
- Party planning - There’s going to be a big bash Saturday night, help us plan it!
